Friday - ACE Adventures - Part 1

Where am I?  This is Nikki Turner and I am at a hotel pool watching Tim pretend to be a ballerina in the water while surrounded by a group of dancing teenagers.    Even though the pool is only 3 feet deep that is not spoiling their fun!
Driving was quicker than the first time.  At least that is what it felt like.  We had pizza for dinner and we didn’t even eat half of it. Ordering was that big hassle and I felt sorry for Tim.  But even now people are doing handstands in the pool.

Pizza Hut party.

More pizza!

Today was one of the hardest of my life because I had to say goodbye to my new friends.  They became very important to all of us and I know they will be extremely missed.  Of course when you live in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Delaware you can’t just drop by to visit.  Everyone wishes it was a smaller world.  But even though we left the West Virginia Youth Works that doesn’t mean we will never see it again.  Today when we stopped for a lunch break a group of kids were exiting the food court.  Their shirts were the same as the ones for sale at Youth Works.  Apparently they came from a Trip in North Carolina.  Youth Works is everywhere.
We gained a new member with Walter Evanz, a tape ball that was constructed with the used tape from our Turtle work site.  All the turtles signed their names on it.
Now for the more smelly part of the day, the mud race course.  I ended up throwing away a pair of shoes, socks, and shorts.  Some people weren’t happy that I kept my shirt but it was from a Bed race and I couldn’t part with it.  No matter how much paint and mud stained it.
We were going to continue the day with the obstacle course in the lake but it began to thunder and we were forced to depart.  Even with a shower we still smell a bit.  Some still have dirt up their nose according to Jessica Winkler.   All in all it was a once in a lifetime trip.  Hopefully it truly was, because I don’t think I would do it again.
In the end the trip couldn’t be beat.  It was one of the best things in our lives.
